Corpses (A Fear Of), 2016, Animation & Character Cards

Anyone who follows me on my blog on Tumblr knows for some reason I’ve been really getting into some small looping animations, whether it’s the blinking of an eye as seen in my Worlds series, or the shifting of smoke, or even the drift of snow, as seen below.

I took a break away from my Worlds series for a small while as I worked on a few personal pieces that correspond with my long withstanding writing project, now with a title, “Marked for Life”. I started this scene of my co-author Tory Keith’s, character Brooke as she begins to have a psychotic break in which she starts seeing Corpse girls coming out of everywhere, emerging from shadows, looking to capture her. I’ve been wanting to illustrate a few scenes from this book for a while, but just started getting around to it.

I also started working on some “character cards” in a simple, easy-to-create style that allows me to make about two per day. I only got to making eight cards total so far, but it’s a fun way to explore a new style and keep my art active. All of these characters are from Azra’s past, present, or both. Each one is a Durandalite vampire, and you may recall characters such as Falco from other illustrations.
