Stay Gold, Ponyboy In Progress Shots

December 5, 2018
A man riding horseback overlooking a mountainous and forest encrusted landscape bathed in golden sunlight. A buck looks up to him in the distance while birds fly overhead.

October was rife with art, since it was Inktober and all. November is supposed to be NaNoWriMo (National Novel Writing Month), and I told myself… I’m going to double down this November and I’m really going to work on some of my writing! I had the best intentions, of course.

And then Red Dead Redemption 2 dropped.

Low, 2018, In Progress Pics

An illustration of a man's torso. The image begins at his chin but ends at his hips. He is nude. In his battered, dirty, and bloodied hands, he is holding a bouquet of stringy, brambly wild chamomile flowers with white petals. The stems of the flowers have red blood on them.

Lo (lol) and behold! A new piece of art!

I don’t really know where to start on this one. It kind of came about when I was doodling up a bunch of ideas I had. Sometimes I’ll jot them all down into their own individual files and then pick at them one by one, or sometimes I’ll pick at a bunch of them all at the same time. Sometimes they’ll get entirely forgotten, or I just won’t be into the idea enough to get cracking on it. Continue reading Low, 2018, In Progress Pics

A close up of a man's nude legs as he steps towards a brightened forest-laden horizon. There is a red rivulet of blood running down the side of his bare back foot, which is partially lifted from the ground, indicating he is wounded. He is dragging a large sword behind him through the dirt.

It’s no secret that I am a feet-hater. Unlike many other artists who choose not to confront hands and cleverly attempt to hide them, I actually love drawing hands. I had really taken to Cam de Leon’s style of bony, almost alienesque looking hands when I was a teenager, and I spent a lot of time as a teen trying to draw hands looking similar. In doing such I actually managed to train myself to not be terrified of hands I guess! There’s something really delicate and nice about hands, and because of that I like to draw them and usually make them pretty detailed.

Leucism, In Progress Pics and Timelapse, 2018

April 2, 2018
An oblique 3/4 portrait of a pale man. He has a shimmering animalistic flash in his eyes. His black hair is swaying in the wind. In the forefront are various black and white moths and butterflies fluttering into view.

This new work I made rather quickly. I had seen a few gorgeous pictures of some albino folks online. I often look at the albino color palette of skin, given my character Azra (and his counterpart Falco) are both leucistic, meaning they suffer from partial loss of pigmentation, mostly in their skin. Anyway, I like drawing bugs a lot, and I often see a flutter of bright white moths around my front porch light, so I got to thinking about the contrast of white on white and then black.
